Lea Norbut-Sicinski
Lea Norbut-Sicinski is a life-time
resident of Will County, growing up in Homer Township and
graduating from Lockport Township High School. Lea earned
her Bachelors of Science degree at Northern Illinois University
and received her Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law
School in Lansing, Michigan.
Lea started her legal career with the Will
County State’s
Attorney’s Office in 1990 under then State’s
Attorney Burmilla and served in the misdemeanor and felony
divisions before being promoted to supervisor of the Auto
Theft Unit in 1994. In 1997 Lea joined the Attorney Generals
Office and was promoted to supervisor of the gang unit in
1998, prosecuting gang crimes, publishing a statewide newsletter
and conducting statewide law enforcement trainings. In 2000
she was promoted to the Supervisor of the Medicaid Fraud
Unit, investigating and prosecuting Medicaid vendor fraud
and elder abuse throughout the State of Illinois, recovering
over 12 million dollars in state funds. Additionally, Lea
negotiated global settlements of vendor fraud nationally.
In 2001, Lea was promoted to the Deputy Chief
of Statewide Grand Jury and was responsible for prosecuting
multi-jurisdictional drug offenses through the 102 counties
of the State of Illinois. She was then promoted to Deputy
Chief of Criminal Trials and Assistance Bureau in 2002 and
was admitted to the Capital Litigation Bar as Lead Counsel.
In 2003 Lea was admitted to the Association of Certified
Fraud Specialists and in 2004, Lea returned to the Will County
State’s Attorney’s
office, committed to providing her family and fellow Will
County citizens with safe communities in which to work and
live.
