JOB TITLE:

Legal Secretary/Criminal Division

GENERAL DUTIES & BACKGROUND:

Provide clerical support to Assistant State’s Attorneys by preparing legal documents, correspondence and any other miscellaneous paperwork. Must be able to take information from police officers to incorporate in various legal documents. Responsible for telephone and written notification of witnesses, filing, creating files, data entry and operating standard office machines, including the latest computer equipment. Responsible for maintaining upkeep of daily court call and database for faxed police reports. Must have the ability to transcribe CD/DVD recordings. Perform any and all other duties as assigned. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior Legal Secretary Experience
  • Familiarity with SAO procedures
  • Working knowledge and understanding of criminal court system a plus

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Accurate typing skills of 40 wpm
  • Familiarity with Windows/XP Pro, Windows 7/8 Pro, and
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must undergo background check

$34,381.00 per year (Grade C, Step 1) or commensurate with Will County experience
